When we were choosing our family summer holiday destination we knew Portugal was a place we wanted to visit. In today’s post I’ll be sharing with you some of our favourite places to visit in Albufeira. It’s a country that’s not heavily marketed so we didn’t know what to expect, but we loved it!
Our Summer in Albufeira
We still tried to do as much as we could with a baby and loved every moment. As this was our first family trip we kept in mind travel time and booked our flights around Isabella’s nap times. You can check out my tips for flying with a baby here. We decided to book an apartment rather than a hotel just so we can have our own privacy.
We stayed in the Albufeira area and rented out a car to get around. Since we had our apartment we cooked most of our meals there but I recommend having a nice dinner in the old town. Find a nice spot and watch the sunset!
A lot of the beaches in the Algarve are easily accessed by foot. Do keep in mind that you have a lot of stairs to take before venturing out. For us it was a struggle as we had a baby and took down the car seat too. You want to make sure you have enough shade, if you have a baby, to be safe from the sun!
We visited a lot of beaches in the Algarve and we never shy away from mixing with the locals. Here is a list of some beaches we went to that you have to see for yourself!
- Praia da Luz
- Praia dos Pescadores
- Praia da Marinha
- Olhos de Agua
- Praia do Camilo
- Praia de Albufeira
- Praia de Benagil
I hope you enjoyed this post and it makes you want to visit Portugal for your next trip!
