Hi guys! We celebrated Isabella’s First Birthday with some family and friends. For a while we kept toying with the idea of doing something big but we ended with a small gathering. Well, I thought it would be small… haha. I’ll be sharing some pictures of Izzy’s birthday but you can also check out my YouTube channel where I vlogged on her actual birthday.
We chose to do a small, simple birthday with finger foods, homemade birthday cake and lots of love! I wanted to go for a “woodland chic” theme but it didn’t turn out exactly like I imagined but it was still nice. After all, our apartment is a bit cosy so we did what we could with the space.
I decided to decorate the table with some mason jars and put flowers in them. These were actually the mason jars we used for our wedding which came in super handy. We also had little jars that we filled with some sweets. In terms of food, we chose to do finger foods so it was easier for everyone to just grab what they wanted and mingle. We finished off the table with some confetti balloons and a big 1 balloon on the side along with some confetti I had left over from the baby shower.
Isabella’s birthday cake was made by my sister and mum which turned out delicious. Instead of going for cream we just cut out a circle from the fondant sheet and put it on top the cake. We added some flowers for decoration and icing sugar around it. To finish off, I decided to add some of the baby’s breath around the cake to add detail.
We added in some baby pictures to fill in the space on the walls. We printed out some of our favourite pictures from the past year and hung them with twine and little wooden pegs. It was one of our favourite bits, we even left them up for a week.
On the day she wore a pretty, boho, floral print dress from Baby Gap. The material is super soft, super lofty and perfect fit for her. She wore small socks with a little yellow flower detail on the side and her gold Kitty flats from Baby Gap. What tied in her outfit was the beautiful flower crown I bought on Etsy. I looked around for so long, even contemplated doing a flower crown myself but we came across PaperArrowApparel on Etsy.
I hope you liked seeing some of the pictures here, I wish I took more but I was super anxious and my mind was not in it! Isabella’s First Birthday was as simple, meaningful and joyful it could get. All we really wanted was to have our friends and family who love her in one place.
